In essence, the Calyx will be a celebration of the pleasures of gardening and of the contribution horticulture has made and continues to make to the quality of our lives and environment. Our aim is to provide education, information and inspiration with appeal to a wide audience. Through the creative use of design and horticulture techniques the Calyx will focus on the ever increasing popularity of gardening in the UK, and will provide a growing fund of knowledge which will foster awareness of sustainable issues amongst both visitors and staff.

The Calyx will include elements of interest to suit, all ages, all capabilities and even the reluctant gardener. The Calyx will provide a centre of design creativity combined with horticulture excellence. People from all backgrounds will participate in the development and operation of the Calyx. Myriad themed demonstration and concept gardens will be created, appealing to every lifestyle and ability and showing how visitors can transform not only their own gardens but also their wider environment.
