A vital component of ‘The Calyx’ is the inclusion of the ‘Arts’ developing an ethos which will embrace the arts in all its forms. Collaboration between visual art and landscape /garden design is seen as a key requirement of the project. Scotland's Garden Trust in partnership will investigate the potential to establish a long-term programme of artistic inclusion within ‘The Calyx’ together with securing the necessary funding required to sustain such a programme.

In keeping with the ethos of ‘The Calyx’, and the provision of a unique visitor experience, Scotland's Garden Trust will ensure that elements of the arts are included within the education and interpretation strategies. Establishing an arts and events programme is a key component in generating visitor interest throughout the year, both internally in the form of temporary exhibitions, and within the garden by means of installation, performance and ‘artist in residence’ programmes.

Elements of play will be integrated around the garden to encourage family participation and interaction with the garden environment.
