The Design Team

Dundee based Nicoll Russell Architects lead a design team which also includes Gillespies, Buro Happold, Atkins and Doig & Smith.

The development of the masterplan has been an evolutionary process which has included feedback from a series of meetings by the Garden Advisory Group and Community Workshops. There are many details still to be added to the existing plan which will include elements from the Trust's education, arts and environment strategies.

The masterplan allows for flexibility with the evolution of ideas from the community adopted within the now well-developed plan.

The garden will have many elements providing a showcase not only for the horticultural industry but for designers and artists to show their skills. The Calyx will provide an opportunity for both established and new names in the world of garden and landscape design with periodic changes to allow anything from allotments to display gardens to be constructed. Unlike other gardens The Calyx will create a balance between providing elements of high community and visitor interest such as the show gardens together with practical demonstrations for the gardening enthusiast. All of these elements will adopt and embody the ethos of horticultural excellence through displays, training and management to ensure that every visitor enjoys The Calyx experience.
