Scotland's
Garden Trust are committed to reducing all detrimental environmental
impacts as a result of the creation of the Calyx. The Calyx
project is aspriing to be wholly carbon neutral. The Trustees
understand the need to educate the community and the opportunities
to raise awareness of sustainable issues. Where possible,
Scotland's Garden Trust will promote a greater understanding
of environmental issues by the adoption of proven sustainable
management systems. Active participation by both staff and
visitors will foster awareness of sustainable issues and encourage
participants to adopt similar systems and actions within everyday
life.
Scotland's Garden Trust will work with
the horticulture industry to promote new technology and products
which encourage sustainable living and biodiversity, through
the use of practical horticultural, scientific and educational
displays. Partnership agreements are being developed to create
co-ordinated strategies to minimise the impacts of waste,
energy, water and carbon emissions. Scotland's Garden Trust
are developing an environmental policy document which will
identify and address all areas of operations under the management
of Scotland's Garden Trust.
